Often when God calls us to a specific task and it seems too hard; we question the command and right away begin offering excuses. But we can trust in Gods word. If he calls us he will help us to fulfill the task. We can rest assured that He will perform His Word. He will never let us down.
Numbers 23:19 God is not a man that he should lie; neither the son of man that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and he shall not make it good?
There are many scriptures that tell us we can trust in Gods word. Ps 12:6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
In Exodus, chapter 3 we read an example of learning to trust in God and His keeping power. We find Moses on the backside of the desert-tending sheep when he sees the burning bush that was not consumed. This burning bush got Moses attention and he turned aside to see what it was.
It was then that God gave him the command to deliver the Israelite children out of Egypt. Just like we would, Moses offered every excuse in the book as to why he was not the man for the job. He first inferred that he had no ability. Phil. 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheth me. So, that shoots down the theory that he would have to do the job in his own strength. God will be with us when we say yes Lord, I will go. Our problem is we are usually caught up in checking out our resources to see if the task is doable.
Zech. 4:6 Then he answered and speaketh unto me saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerrubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord. So, whose might are we going in anyway? We need to realize that when God says something that we can do it because He will be there every step of the way to help us.
Then Moses said what shall I say unto them. You go and tell them that I Am That I Am have sent you. He gave Moses His Name to use. We have that same name to use today. The bible teaches us that at the name of Jesus demons tremble. So, now Moses had the use of the name of the one who spoke the universe into existence by His spoken word and who is eternal. The task would be not be easy, but God would go with him and help him all the way.
So often today Christians think they have no message to take to the world when God has given us 66 books of messages. Yet we find there is a severe famine in the land of hearing the Word of God. When we say we have no message, we are saying Gods word is of no value. He has given us every weapon we need to fight the enemy and to get this great gospel to every living creature. Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel.
Moses said I have no authority. He said they wont believe me. So, God asked him what he had in his hand and behold he made the rod in his hand to become a serpent and he was not harmed. I see here the serpent representing the power of Pharaoh and a man with the call of God over coming that, which does not seem possible.
Maybe you are like Moses was and think you are to shy or your speech is not eloquent. God allowed Aaron, the brother to become a mouthpiece for Moses, thus his excuses were running out.
And then we find in Exodus 4:13 - Moses still trying to get out of the task. I have no inclination or mind for the work is what he was really saying. Send somebody else. Ever feel that way when God asks you to do something, someone else can do the job better? Yes! but God is calling you.
Acts 1:8 but ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem and in all Judaea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
We have the promise of the Holy Ghost and this power and enduement of power for ministry. It enables us to do what God is wanting done.
How can you say I am not able? You are correct. You are not able but Christ is. It is Church. It is His Ministry. It is His Word. All we have to do is to present our bodies a living sacrifice to Him and follow Him as did the disciples of old.
Yes! You can, but it will be in the power of the Holy Ghost. It will be by His mighty Spirit and not in your own might.
